What I've been up to...sort of.

It'll soon be Christmas, but I can't seem to get in the mini holiday mode.  My shop's cupboards are bare, help?!!!

Instead of conforming to the season, I've been obsessed by working with wood, which I find extremely satisfying. And I'm also a sushi fiend, and tend to create what I like to eat!  What you see in the photo is as far as I've gotten on this sushi meal...on hold since late October while I meet deadlines on other projects.  I'm planning to complete the scene with a low, aged wooden table, tea set and silk zabuton (Japanese seat cushions).  To be continued....

  1. Alison, I love your little bowl of lotus :) and I think you make fabulous chopsticks. They look deceptively easy but the proportions I have seen so far are always off. Yours are just right!

If you have a bit of time, come over and see the fish basket I have. Was wondering if it is your cup of tea. Tried to look for an email but see that you have not listed it on your profile :).

  3. Thanks, Sans, I love your lotus pond, too!! My husband thinks I'm crazy to be carving those chopsticks but it's like therapy. Sent you an email :)

Gracias, Ascensión! He visto tu cuadro hermoso salón japonés! Así que muchos detalles auténticos. Me gusta sobre todo el deslizamiento "shoji" puertas "bonsái" jardín y "geta" de madera!

I hear ya about the whole Christmas thing. I can't seem to get into it this year, with minis or anything else.
